The Town Buildings Committee was a temporary committee formed in 2010 . Its purpose was to make recommendations to the Selectmen related to the long-term preservation and use of the Village buildings. In 2012, the Committee managed a grant-funded project that includes assessing the buildings and prioritizing repair and renovation work. In 2013 the committee began planning for the Town Hall renovation and completion of the Library Lower Level. Following approval of these projects at the 2014 Town meeting, the committee worked with the Select Board to the successful completion of both projects. In 2015 the committee was organized anew to look toward the future and to develop a plan for energy conservation and production for several Town buildings.
In 2022 the committee was redirected to focus on energy for Nelson in the future. This redirection highlights, what has been, the committee’s main focus over the past several years. Green, renewable energy is key to survival for all. This committee will be tasked with researching all forms of renewable energy as well as developing and proposing projects that meet the needs and goals of the entire community. They will keep in mind the financial toll as they seek grants, alternative funding, and development of projects that may be implemented in cost effective phases.
MINUTES: Minutes are in draft or pre-review until approved at a public meeting of the Committee. Any amendments to posted draft minutes will be noted in the minutes of the meeting that includes the vote to approve or amend them. Final approved and signed minutes may be viewed at the Town Clerk’s Office. Copies of the signed minutes are available upon request from the Town Clerk or Administrative Assistant.
